DNR hears input on air pollution permit hearing for egg-production facility

LAKE MILLS — The state Department of Natural Resources received public input Friday on an air pollution permit for Daybreak Foods Inc. to expand its Creekwood Farms facility to 2.75 million chickens.

A public hearing at the Lake Mills Municipal Building focused on the air pollution-control permit that takes into consideration chemical-causing odors and chemicals released into the air.

In March, the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Committee approved the conditional-use permit allowing Daybreak Foods Inc. to expand its egg operation to 2.75 million chickens, consisting of 2 million layers and about 750,000 pullets.
