ThriveED Partnering with Latino Academy for Career Fair on November 17

The Latino Academy will hold a career fair Nov. 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the YMCA in Watertown.

It will be a family-friendly event and will include food and free childcare for participants. Latino Academy staff will be on hand to assist participants and facilitate employer introductions.The fair is open to employers in any industry with current career opportunities. The targeted starting wage for these opportunities is $15/hour or more plus benefits.

Latino Academy staff will provide company overviews to participants so they can familiarize themselves with the career opportunities that will be offered. In addition, they will counsel them on appropriate questions to ask potential employers.

The organization hosted its first career fair in June, attracting 163 participants actively looking for employment.

The Latino Academy will run and promote the event, working with their extensive network to target the Hispanic community. Promotion will be in English and Spanish and include social media, local flyers and radio. The cost to participate is $500 per business. Space is available on a first come, first served basis.
